Rickover...are you ready to run??
The CARA Road Scholars offers students an unique opportunity to train throughout the summer for the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon. Students receive training tips and are paired up with expert runners who coach and encourage them throughout the summer.
**The first meeting for the CARA Road Scholars Half Marathon training program is Wednesday, March 10th at 3pm. Learn more about the program, receive the required paperwork and receive your running schedule. Any questions, contact Mr. Kohl at kkohl@cps.edu.
5th Annual Rickover Naval Academy Fundraiser
Invitations are going out soon for the 5th annual Rickover fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit a student scholarship fund and post-secondary enrichment activities.

The event will take place at the Chicago Yacht Club - Belmont Harbor on Friday, April 16th from 6-10pm. Tickets are $75 per person for 4 hours of food, drinks and entertainment. Next Parent Action Committee (PAC) Meeting - March 11
The next PAC meeting will be held Thursday, March 11 at 6:00pm in room 380. Ms. Price, the CPS representative, will be in attendance to make our group official. Send questions to Mr. Kohl at kkohl@cps.edu. See you there!!
Parents needed for School Improvement Plan
Rickover needs parent input for their School Improvement Plan. The meeting will occur with the PAC meeting on March 11. Please arrive by 5:00pm and provide your ideas on making Rickover better.
Rickover students get their college information from What'sNextIllinois.org
What'sNextIllinois.org helps you find everything needed to plan, apply and go to the college or university of your child's choice. Included in the website is an interest inventory, college planning, career planning, and much more.

Parents, spend time with your child reviewing the many parts of What'sNextIllinois.org. All Rickover students already have their log-in information and have already begun the college and career exploration process. If you have any further questions, please contact the School Counselors at 773-534-2890.
Congratulations to the Rickover Drill Teams!!
The Rickover Drill Teams again earned six awards at the February 6 Wheeling Drill Meet and placed 4th in the Overall Standing out of 13 competing school .
The results are in:
Cadet Camacho placed 4th in the Individual Unarmed knockout competition.
New Cadets Team placed 3rd; the Varsity Unarmed Drill Team placed 3rd, the Color Guard Team placed 5th, the Armed Drill Team placed 2nd, and Armed Exhibition Team placed 5th.
The RNA Writing Center is open for tutoring
Students, remember its Research Paper time and the RNA Writing Support Center is open from 3-4:30 every Tuesday and Thursday. All students experiencing difficulties with writing projects, regardless of the class, are encouraged to make an appointment in Room 261. Any questions, see Mr. Amato.
CTA Service Cuts
Students and Parents, as of Sunday, February 7, the CTA has made service cuts to bus and train lines. Please visit www.cps.edu or www.transitchicago.com for more detailed information. Please be aware of the new service cuts and eliminated routes to plan your travel to school.
1st Semester Promotion Ceremony now set for Feb. 17
The 1st Semester Promotion Ceremony has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 17, beginning at 6pm. Please join us and celebrate our cadets achievements!
Cadets speak at the CARA Awards Banquet
2 Rickover cadets were invited to speak at the January 22 CARA Awards Banquet. The 2 cadets, Cadet Arreguin and Cadet Julian, are members of the CARA Road Scholars, a running program that trains high school students to run a half marathon. Cadet Arreguin and Cadet Julian talked about how the Road Scholars program has helped them develop their running skills, improve their self-confidence and helped them accomplish a feat the cadets never imagined they could achieve. They represented Rickover well. Good Job Cadets!!
